Now in its 10th year the St Ives Rotary Club held another highly successful exhibition of postcard paintings to coincide with the 2016 St Ives September Festival, raising a record sum for local arts charities and Rotary Club good causes alike.

Throughout the month Members and Associate Members of the Penwith Society are showing a range of paintings, prints, sculpture and ceramics. With all works priced below £500 it offers an excellent opportunity for the astute buyer.

Intriguing news for many local to Cornwall and to some nationally, even internationally, has been the staged journey of the tallest puppet ever built in the UK. Despite uncharacteristic summer weather, huge numbers invaded the village of Minions to see the visit of the Man Engine on its journey through Cornwall. It was  probably the greatest number of people ever to gather in this tiny village. The narrow approach roads on the high moor were clogged with traffic well in advance of its appearance to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the ten distinct Cornish mining districts being made a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Once again Artmill has mounted a mixed exhibition of paintings, prints, ceramics and sculpture by members of the Plymouth Society of Artists in this well appointed and deceptively spacious gallery. The Society has an established position in the gallery’s annual programme, this show being the ninth.

The Brownston Gallery, in the heart of historic Modbury, South Devon, plays host to an exhibition of paintings from members of the South West Academy.
