Now in the seventh year of an annual showing at Plymouth’s Artmill Gallery the Society has had superb representation from the gallery owner Isabell Pierson over the period. Artmill is far more spacious than a street view would suggest and displays are to be found in three distinct areas with an additional walled sculpture garden to the rear of the complex.

The Academicians made a return visit to exhibit in The Castle, Exeter following a break of some four years. The work illustrated, as might be expected, all the customary breadth and depth of styles offered by its members and went on show for a short, but well attended exhibition, filling the two spacious galleries to superb effect.

Showing in the Penwith Gallery are three vibrant exhibitions occupying the three separate exhibiting areas the complex has to offer. Several hundred visitors to the gallery made for an engaging atmosphere at the private viewing on Friday 24th evening and helped set the scene for the next two months.

The opening exhibition of the 2015 season is a departure from previous years with the Penwith Society full members showing together with a substantial number of associate members in a combined exhibition that occupies both the main and the new galleries. The joint show has proved a popular decision and the private view attracted large numbers to the newly decorated Penwith Gallery.
